Wrasse at last.
went to Greenock targeting wrasse again. Received a phone call just as I got there meaning I couldn't make a day out of it as planned so decided to stay for a couple of hours instead of leaving straight away.
I was using rag worm on size 4 baitholders and got my first wrasse after five minutes, these fish give some fight but can die if over fought so try to get them in pretty quickly. A very nice Balan wrasse at 2lb 5oz.
I got another 3 good sized wrasse, 2 at 1lb 6oz and 1 at 1lb 8oz.
also caught two of my biggest cod so far at 1lb 8oz and 1lb 6oz, and a little pollock too.

Greenock.
I headed over to Greenock yesterday to try and catch a wrasse but failed again. I got over just about low tide and fished till high tide almost. the water was very clear and hardly any wind at all.
Bait was Mackerel, Lug, Rag and Sandeels which was fished both single and mixed, with 2 rods, one close in and in the harbour and the other further out. I was using a pennel pulley rig with 3oz impact leads and single 1oz weight with single hook for close in.
Caught 6 small cod biggest about a pound, a wee ss sea scorpion and a tiny hand sized flatty.
Although the cod were small they are bigger than the one's around the clyde area last year so I think it's looking good for the future.
I still never caught my target species which was wrasse but i,ll try again, maybe trying some different area's of greenock and even gourock.
